Golf clubs on the road

I had left the tailgate open, at least partially. We were heading up for our weekly Monday night golf outing. I had loaded the clubs in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. As I backed out of the driveway, there was a "beep" and the Information Center indicated "Tailgate open." I stopped and went back to check. It wasn't completely open, but apparently I had not gotten it completely latched. I got it fixed and we continued on our journey. I don't know if the clubs would have fallen out on the road or not, but I'm happy for the Information Center giving me help. That is one of the features I really like about my Grand Cherokee.

Jeep high mileage

Jeep Odometer
How many miles do you have on your Jeep? When we buy a car or SUV, we are hoping it will last well. Some people like to trade often so they don't have to worry about repairs. Others like to hold on to their vehicles so they don't have to worry about monthly payments. I'm at the point where I'm holding on for the "no payment" option.

That's one reason why hearing about high mileage in Jeeps is good news. I recently ran across the Allpar 200,000 Mile Club, a site where people can post the mileage of their vehicles. The mileage has to be 0ver 200,000 to even qualify for this site. I took special note of the Jeeps listed. They ranged from a 1986 Cherokee with 200,001 miles to a 1989 Grand Cherokee Laredo with 334,656. They also list the repairs they've made and problems they are currently having that might need repair. It is surprising how little maintenance these high mileage Jeeps have needed.

I like seeing those figures. It means that my Grand Cherokee Laredo with only around 90,000 miles should last me a long time. That's a lot of money saved on monthly payments, and a lot of fun Jeeping around the country!
